Bowater composite and fire doors are tested rigorously each year to demonstrate their attributes which also meet industry required standards.
Our doors are tested to BS 6375 Part 1 and Part 2 classifications for weather tightness and for operation and security characteristics. The latest tests included the additional Part 3 classification which covers additional performance characteristics.
James Harbisher (pictured), Manufacturing Technician at Bowater explained: “The tests are carried out at a UKCA accredited BSI site and include solid impact, hard impact, and manual testing.
The Part 3 classification came into effect in September 2022 and supersedes the previous PAS 24:2016. Bowater’s doors are manufactured to our own high internal quality measures. The new Part 3 secutiry resistance test enables us to further demonstrate how our own rigorous standards already meet industry requirements and recommendations.”
The BS 6375 standard provides guidance to the specifier and the manufacturer on appropriate performance levels, relating to air permeability, water tightness and wind resistance. It’s applicable to all types of vertical windows and door sets including windows in which the opening lights are not fully framed.
